stone garden

Stone garden is one of the attractions of Kerman province and Sirjan city. In addition to being registered in the cultural heritage of the country, the stone garden has been registered. This area, which used to be a garden, is located near Balordu village, Miandoab village, 40 km southeast of Sirjan. This garden has an irregular hexagonal shape and belonged to one of the nomads of the Qara Saadlo tribe from the Bechagchi clan named Darvish Khan Esfandyarpur. Darvish Khan of Esfandiarpur is a descendent of Hasan Khan, the son of Amir Ali Khan of Esfandiarpur, and he was deaf and unable to speak. About the motivation of Darvish Khan to create such a work, different stories are told, all of which are speculative, such as that after the land reforms in 1340, Darvish Khan stopped gardening to protest the loss of his property until all the trees His remaining land dried up after the division of land. He hung stones on all the branches of the fruit trees and took care of them like real fruit. Darvish Khan Esfandyarpur died at the age of 83 on April 18, 2006 and her body was buried in this garden. In 1355, Parviz Kimiavi made a film called Bagh Sangi from this garden with the company of Darwish Khan Esfandiarpour, which won the Silver Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. Characteristics of the garden: The garden is in the shape of an irregular hexagon, with 200 trees, in the middle of the desert. On both sides of the road that leads to the stone garden, the fields are cultivated and the pistachio gardens are dry.

Dervish Khan Esfandiar started digging holes in the dry ground. He planted the dead trees in these holes in a large area and continued this work. When he finished planting these dead trees, he started hanging stones from the branches of the trees. Finally, the size of this stone garden reached 1000 meters and 180 trees planted in it and the stones hanging from it like fruit created this stone garden.

Most of the stones in this garden have a hole through which the branches passed. Some believe that these stones were in a specific place that Darvish Khan found and brought here, and some say that he himself made the stones in this way. But in any case, no one has ever been found to say that they saw him drilling holes in rocks, and of course, no tools for drilling holes in rocks have been found in the garden.[2] Of course, apart from rocks, he used other things such as flat tires. He used to hang broken mirrors, springs, and anything he could think of on the tree, but most of Sirjan’s stone garden was made up of stone fruits.
